COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2007) —The internationally acclaimed U.S. Army Field Band’s Jazz Ambassadors will be performing at Tennessee Tech University’s Derryberry Hall Auditorium on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m.

Sponsored by TTU’s department of music and art, the show is free, although tickets are required.

They may be picked up at the information desk of the Roaden University Center or at the music and art box office in the lobby of the Bryan Fine Arts Building.

The Jazz Ambassadors are the U.S. Army’s premier touring jazz orchestra. This 19-member big band, formed in 1969, has received great acclaim both at home and abroad for its performances, which have reached audiences in all 50 states, Europe and Asia.

The Jazz Ambassadors present a diverse program of big band swing, Latin music, contemporary jazz, popular tunes, standards, Dixieland and patriotic selections.

Members are selected by highly competitive audition and represent some of the finest musical talent in America. More than three decades of touring has earned the group the title of “Musical Ambassadors of the Army.”

Past performance venues include Carnegie Hall, the Montreux, North Sea and Newport Jazz Festivals, World War II 50th anniversary commemorations in the United States and Europe, and shows in India and Japan.
