COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 20, 2007) – The west ventures east as the
Oregon-based Terra Nova Consort holds a concert Thursday, March 1, at
Wattenbarger Auditorium of the Bryan Fine Arts Building at 7:30 p.m.
Founded in 1988, the Terra Nova Consort explores ethnic influences through
the performance of early music. Involved in such educational programs
as Southern Oregon University, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the
Seattle Early Music Guild, Terra Nova brings early music to students of
all ages and backgrounds.
Terra Nova actively participates on the national and international touring
circuit. In the summer of 2000, they made their European debut in Regensburg,
Germany, at the Tage Alter Musik Festival.
The Chicago Tribune calls Terra Nova’s work, “terrifically
musical, stylish and full of spirit.”
Bill McLaughlin, host of NPR’s Saint Paul Sunday, hails
the ensemble as, “one of the world’s best rock n’ roll
renaissance bands.”
A Center Stage event, the concert is free and open to the public. Students
are requested to show Eagle ID’s for attendance tracking.
