COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 22, 2006) – An exhibit of ceramic sculpture by Linda Casbon entitled Painted Forms will be on display through Feb. 26 in Gallery Two of the Appalachian Center for Craft, a satellite campus of Tennessee Tech University.

Casbon’s work translates forms into a landscape of metaphoric associations, hinting at meanings without using literal descriptions. Her objects are the visual “sounds” of this language.

Ceramic forms are used as a sculptural canvas to draw on, creating interplay between painted shapes and 3-dimensional forms. The surfaces and drawings are inspired by an array of sources, including maps and aerial photographs.

The Appalachian Center for Craft is located approximately six miles from Interstate 40 at Exit 273 (Smithville/McMinnville). Go south on Hwy. 56 and turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge. This drive leads to the Craft Center.
