COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 22, 2007) – Tennessee Tech University’s College of Business recently named its first ever Faye Halfacre Moore Professor of Entrepreneurship, and economics, finance and marketing professor Don Weinrauch was selected for it.

The professorship was made possible by a gift from TTU business alumna Faye Halfacre Moore and her husband, Charles, who live in Lexington, Ky.

“Charlie wanted to honor Faye in some manner here at Tech, and both were excited about endowing a professorship in entrepreneurship in Faye’s name,” said Pat Quillen, director of development for the College of Business.

“Faye said she feels the professorship endowment helps fulfill her mission concerning entrepreneurship,” he continued.

Moore was a featured guest at TTU’s Distinguished Lecture Series last year.

She founded and managed two jewelry manufacturing and sales corporations for 16 years in Atlanta before becoming a realtor in Marco Island, Fla., where she contributes a portion of each commission to the Children’s Miracle Network and the Marco Health Center.

TTU President Bob Bell last year appointed Moore to the Tennessee Tech Foundation Board of Directors.

“The selection of Don Weinrauch as the recipient for this professorship was an extremely pleasant task,” said Bob Niebuhr, dean of TTU’s College of Business.

Weinrauch, a faculty member at TTU for more than 30 years, already teaches TTU’s entrepreneurship courses and hosts the Upper Cumberland Business Profiles program on Cookeville’s PBS station, WCTE-TV.

This appointment paves the way for TTU’s College of Business to enlarge its entrepreneurship curriculum and begin fundraising for a $1 million Center for Entrepreneurship and Family Business.

“When sufficient funds have been raised to eventually create and staff the center, it will serve as the umbrella organization for our entrepreneurial studies, Small Business Development Center and other outreach activities related to family businesses,” Niebuhr said.
