COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (July 26, 2007) — Tennessee State Rep. Henry
Fincher will address more than 400 August graduates at Tennessee Tech
University’s summer commencement ceremonies, set for 10 a.m. on
Saturday, Aug. 4, in Hooper Eblen Center.
A native of Cookeville and a representative for Tennessee’s 42nd
District, Fincher is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville
and a 1994 graduate of Harvard Law School.
He practices law in Cookeville, specializing in complex civil litigation,
and is one of the only double-certified specialists in the fields of civil
trial litigation and elder law.
Before being elected state representative, Fincher served as chairman
of the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance, the body that regulates
campaign finance in the state. He also served as Monterey City Judge from
2001 to 2006.
Fincher is married to Melissa Evans Fincher, a registered nurse. The
couple has a 7-year-old daughter, Katherine.
Fincher is a Mason, a Shriner, a Rotarian and a member of the Church
of Christ.
About 418 students are expected to graduate from TTU this summer. They
hail from 37 states including Tennessee, 65 Tennessee counties and 43
foreign countries. They represent 28 undergraduate fields of study and
20 graduate fields.
Following summer commencement, TTU will have granted more than 61,000
degrees.
