COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 20, 2007) — Tennessee Tech University’s
Visual Arts Society will host its annual Holiday Sale in the Joan Derryberry
Art Gallery from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, and from 8 a.m.
to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30.
A wide variety of original, one-of-a-kind handmade works by the emerging
artists of TTU will be available, including ceramic bowls, cups and platters,
fine jewelry, hand-blown glass vases and bowls and much more.
“The VAS sale gives the students first-hand experience in presenting,
promoting and selling their art to the public,” said Jennifer George,
VAS co-president and bachelor of fine arts degree ceramics major.
“A portion of the proceeds from the sale is devoted to hosting
visiting artists and assisting students in attending professional art-related
conferences,” she continued. “These experiences support and
enhance our educational goals as artists.”
The Derryberry Gallery is located on the first floor of the Roaden University
Center.
