COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 2, 2007) — An exhibit by TTU alumnus Skip
Rohde will be on display from Oct. 29 through Nov. 27. A 1977 mechanical
engineering graduate, Rohde had a 22-year career as a naval officer before
earning a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of North Carolina
at Asheville. Using mostly oil on canvas, Rohde presents narrative painting
within the realistic traditions and “examines controversial aspects
of contemporary life.” He is currently examining the impacts of
war. He will present a gallery talk at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 30.
TTU Music
A SYNERGY Brass Quintet guest recital is Sunday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m.
Concerts featuring composer Paul Basler will be presented Monday and
Tuesday, Nov. 5 and 6, at 7:30 p.m.
A faculty jazz recital is set for Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
Martin McFarlane will present a tuba recital on Thursday, Nov. 8, at
7:30 p.m.
A tuba/euphonium student recital is set for Friday, Nov. 9, at 8:30 p.m.
The Fall Trumpet Festival is Saturday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m.
Jesse Langston will present a senior clarinet recital on Saturday, Nov.
10, at 5 p.m.
Grace Burris will follow with her senior recital on Saturday, Nov. 10,
at 7:30 p.m.
Appalachian Center for Craft
A metal exhibit by Trish Ramsay, entitled The Cultivation of Chance: New
Work by Trish Ramsay, will be featured in Gallery Two through Nov. 9.
Bachelor of Fine Arts senior thesis exhibitions will be showcased Oct.
21 through Nov. 25.
The Appalachian Center for Craft is located six miles off Hwy. 56
(Interstate 40, Exit 273) near Smithville. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. daily. The Joan Derryberry Art Gallery is located on the first floor
of the University Center and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. Monday through Friday. The Backdoor Playhouse is located in Jere
