COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 17, 2007) — The Tech Players’ production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town opens at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25. Subsequent shows are set for 8 p.m. on Oct. 26, 27, 29, 30 and Nov. 2 and 3. A 2 p.m. matinee performance is scheduled for Oct. 27, and a 10 p.m. late show is set for Nov. 1. Our Town is an original and influential work that deals with the themes of life, love and death in the fictional small town of Grover’s Corners, N.H. It’s about the lives of ordinary people and the difference between living life and loving life. Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 senior citizen, $5 non-TTU student and free for TTU students with valid Eagle Card identifications. The show is a Center Stage event. TTU Music

A clarinet studio recital is set for 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22. It will be followed by a clarinet chamber ensemble concert at 8:30 p.m.

A jazz ensemble concert is set for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

Fall Trumpet Festival performances are scheduled for 7:30 and 8:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

A University Orchestra performance is set for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25.

Ben McMillan will present a student euphonium recital at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26. Another student tuba/euphonium recital will follow at 8:30 p.m.

Sandra Smith will present a senior voice recital at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Appalachian Center for Craft

A metal exhibit by Trish Ramsay, entitled The Cultivation of Chance: New Work by Trish Ramsay, will be featured in Gallery Two from Oct. 5 through Nov. 9.

Bachelor of Fine Arts senior thesis exhibitions will be showcased Oct. 21-Nov. 25.

Joan Derryberry Art Gallery

The Joan Derryberry Art Gallery will present works by Jarrod Houghton, a mixed media artist and MTSU assistant professor, in the gallery from Oct. 1 through 26.

Bacchanal 2007
Bacchanal 2007, which supports art scholarships at Tennessee Tech University and the Appalachian Center for Craft, is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 28, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Spankies Restaurant in Cookeville. The auction will begin at 2:30 p.m. Guests will receive commemorative wine and pint glasses and free valet parking. The event offers wine and beer tasting, a decadent cocktail buffet, the smooth sound of jazz music and a live auction of art and fine craft. Reservations for the Bacchanal are $35 per person in advance — through Friday, Oct. 26 — and $40 per person at the door.

The Appalachian Center for Craft is located six miles off Hwy. 56 (Interstate 40, Exit 273) near Smithville. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The Joan Derryberry Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the University Center and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
