COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 17, 2007) — The Tech Chorale will present
a multimedia show at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 in Wattenbarger Auditorium, featuring
music of Paul Basler and poetry and artwork by Gabriel Navar. At 7:30
p.m. on the following night, a concert of Basler’s instrumental
compositions will feature the Brass Arts Quintet and performances by the
university orchestra, wind ensemble, trumpet ensemble and horn choir.
These events are Center Stage events. Both shows are free and open to
the public.
TTU Music
The U.S. Navy Commodores Jazz Ensemble will be in concert on Monday,
Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m.
A tuba/euphonium quartet recital is set for Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 7
p.m.
Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble will present a Tubaween concert on Wednesday,
Oct. 31, at 8:30 p.m.
Curtis Prichard will present a euphonium recital on Thursday, Nov. 1,
at 7 p.m.
A choral symposium concert is set for Sunday, Nov. 4, at 3 p.m.
A SYNERGY Brass Quintet guest recital is Sunday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m.
Backdoor Playhouse
The Tech Players’ production of Thorton Wilder’s Our
Town continues to be shown. Shows are set for 8 p.m. on Oct. 29,
30 and Nov. 2 and 3. A 10 p.m. late show is set for Nov. 1. Our Town is
an original and influential work that deals with the themes of life, love
and death in the fictional small town of Grover’s Corners, N.H.
It’s about the lives of oridinary people and the differences between
living life and loving life. Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 senior
citizen, $5 non-TTU student and free for TTU
students with valid Eagle Card identifications. The show is a Center Stage

Joan Derryberry Gallery
An exhibit by TTU alumnus Skip Rohde will be on display from Oct. 29
through Nov. 27. A 1977 mechanical engineering graduate, Rohde had a 22-year
career as a naval officer before earning a bachelor of fine arts degree
from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Using mostly oil on
canvas, Rohde presents narrative painting within the realistic traditions
and “examines controversial aspects of contemporary life.”
He is currently examining the impacts of war. He will present a gallery
talk at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 30.
The Appalachian Center for Craft is located six miles off Hwy. 56
(Interstate 40, Exit 273) near Smithville. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. daily. The Joan Derryberry Art Gallery is located on the first floor
of the University Center and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. Monday through Friday. The Backdoor Playhouse is located in Jere
