Metals exhibit by Trish Ramsay on display through Nov. 9

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (October 9, 2007)—A metals exhibit by Trish Ramsay, entitled The Cultivation of Chance: New Work by Trish Ramsay, will be featured in Gallery Two of the Appalachian Center for Craft, a satellite campus of Tennessee Tech University, from Oct. 5 through Nov. 9.

Ramsay’s new work has become increasingly concerned with events taking place upon a surface or within a shallow space.

Wall installations are derived from her drawings (blind contours of observed landscape, doodles and geometric drawing exercises). She became interested in repetitive patterning while traveling in India. It was at this time, she began to study and collect textiles.

Ramsay’s current body of work consists of steel wire, rayon and wool. She teaches metalsmithing at Columbus State University in Columbus, Ga.

The Appalachian Center for Craft is located approximately six miles from Interstate 40 at Exit 273 (Smithville/McMinnville). Go south on Hwy. 56; turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge. This drive leads to the Craft Center.
