COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 12, 2007) — Tennessee Technological University’s
Anne Thurmond will present a faculty clarinet recital at 7:30 p.m. on
Monday, Sept. 17, at First Presbyterian Church, 20 N. Dixie Ave. in Cookeville.
Thurmond will be accompanied by fellow TTU music faculty members, Wei
Tsun Chang, violin; and Seanad Dunigan Chang, viola; as well as guest
violinist Rebecca Dorcy and guest cellist Kirsten Cassel. They will perform
quintets by Carl Maria von Weber and Johannes Brahms, two landmark compositions
for clarinet and strings.

The Bryan Symphony Orchestra will present a free outdoor concert at Dogwood
Park on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 7:30 p.m. The park is located behind the
public library on West Broad Street in downtown Cookeville.
The Tech Chorale and University Orchestra will join young musicians from
Cookeville High School for a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
The show will be presented in the auditorium of Cookeville High School,
and tickets are $8 at the door.
The Cumberland Quintet will be in concert in Derryberry Hall Auditorium
on Monday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m.
Joshua Hauser will present a faculty recital in Derryberry Hall Auditorium
on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m.
At the Appalachian Center for Craft
A mixed media exhibit by Holly Hanessian, entitled Texture, will be featured
in Gallery One from Aug. 19 through Sept. 30.
An exhibition of ceramic works by Bonnie Seeman, Brian Hiveley and Helen
Otterson, entitled Fluent Dichotomy, runs through Sept. 20 at the Appalachian
Center for Craft’s Gallery Two.
The Appalachian Center for Craft is located six miles off Hwy. 56
(Interstate 40, Exit 273) near Smithville. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. daily. The Joan Derryberry Art Gallery is located on the first floor
of the University Center and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. Monday through Friday. The Backdoor Playhouse is located in Jere
Whitson Memorial Building. For more information, call 372-6595. Unless
