COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 25, 2007) — A trumpet recital by Tennessee
Tech University professor Charles Decker will be the featured Oct. 2 Tuesdays
at Tech faculty concert.
The free concert, set for 7:30 p.m. at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church
in Cookeville, will showcase new music for trumpet.
The program features a new trumpet concerto by American composer Robert
Bradshaw and music for trumpet and viola by Leroy Osmon, performed with
violist Seanad Chang. The show will also include a virtuoso cornet solo
by Walter Rogers and Gershwin’s “Someone to Watch Over Me.”
Decker will be accompanied by pianist Sandra Robbins, and six members
of the Tech Trumpet Ensemble will join Decker to perform the famous Altenburg
“Concerto for Trumpets” and the popular “Rakes of Mallow”
by Leroy Anderson.
