Complete your social calendar by attending this year's Bacchanal on Oct. 26

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 19, 2008) — Fall social calendars aren’t complete without Bacchanal 2008.

“How better to spend a Sunday afternoon than at this gala event presented by Tennessee Tech University and the Appalachian Center for Craft, hosted by Spankies Restaurant in Cookeville?” said Jane Dudney Roberts, promotions and development manager at the Craft Center and Bacchanal coordinator.

The annual fundraiser has a long-standing history of providing scholarships for art students and support for art programs at TTU. It offers a broad selection of wine and specialty beer for tasting, a decadent cocktail buffet, live music and an auction of art and fine craft.

Bacchanal 2008 is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 26, from 1 to 5 p.m. The live auction begins at 2:30 p.m.

In addition to the buffet, beverages and entertainment, guests receive commemorative wine and pint glasses and free valet parking.

“The Bacchanal just seems to get better every year — and along with the growth of the event itself, we’ve also increased the scholarships and educational opportunities for our talented art students,” said Ward Doubet, Craft Center director and Bacchanal committee chairman.

“Join us for the excellent food and drink and the best art auction of the year to help keep the Bacchanal ball rolling,” he continued.

The Bacchanal planning committee has gathered once again to begin preparations for the October event.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with the energy and support of our Bacchanal Committee,” said Roberts. “Each year, the committee has continued to evolve with the growth of the event. We have a super group of people from the university and community working together for art students and art opportunities at TTU.”

Reservations are $40 per person in advance through Friday, Oct. 24, and $45 per person at the door.

There are no printed tickets for the event; reservations only. To make reservations for Bacchanal 2008, call Shannon Terry at 931/372-3051 or e-mail her at sterry@tntech.edu.
