COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 6, 2008) — Tennessee Tech University’s
Center Stage series presents an evening with novelist Howard Bahr at 7
p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12, in Bruner Hall Auditorium, Room 119.
Acclaimed author Bahr will discuss his views of the American novel and
the art of writing. He will also read passages and excerpts from his various
novels, and a question and answer session will follow his presentation.
Bahr, the former curator of Rowan Oak, William Faulkner’s home
in Oxford, Miss., has won various awards for his first three novels.
The most recent is the prestigious Michael Shaara Award for his third
novel, The Judas Field.
His first novel, The Black Flower, has been optioned to appear
as a movie produced by Sony Pictures.
Both of those novels use the Battle of Franklin as a backdrop to their
action, and his second novel, The Year of Jubilo, features as
its setting a small Mississippi town immediately following the Civil War.
Bahr’s fourth novel, Pelican Road, will be published in
May.
His presentation at TTU is free and open to the public.
