COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (March 10, 2008) — Tennessee Tech University music faculty are featured on a new compact disc recording of chamber works by American-Mexican composer Leroy Osmon.
Titled Zeraim seeds, the CD came about in fall 2007, when Osmon was a Center Stage guest artist at the university.
“As part of that visit, R. Winston Morris produced a recording of Osmon’s music for chamber groups. A large segment of the faculty of music donated their services in making the recording,” said Arthur LaBar, chairperson of TTU’s music and art department.
Osmon, in the liner notes of the recording, says, “This CD simply would not exist without R. Winston Morris’ tenacity [and] Joe Hermann’s generous offer to perform my symphony.”
“Diane Pulte’s wonderful singing voice and Phil Barham’s amazing talent, along with outstanding ensemble playing, resulted in a performance that was both absolutely beautiful and hauntingly profound,” he continues.
“To the faculty and students at TTU, I say thank you for such an unparalleled week, for your kind words and for all your hard work,” Osmon concludes.
