COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 19, 2008) — Tennessee Technological University
oboist Bill Woodworth will present his annual faculty recital on September
11, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. in the Wattenbarger Auditorium of the Bryan Fine
Arts Building on the Tech campus.
Cathy Godes, Woodworth’s Music Department colleague, will accompany
him on piano.
The program will consist of four pieces.
The first, “Concerto” by the Italian opera composer, Vincenzo
Bellini is a short, delightful, classical oboe concerto.
Next will be Paul Hindemith’s English Horn “Sonate”.
Written in 1941, this contemporary work demonstrates the unique dark and
rich timbre of the English Horn.
The third piece will be “past hopes and dreams” from the
Oboe Concerto Down a River of Time by Eric Ewazen. Written in 1999, this
concerto contains beautiful harmonies and flowing melodic lines.
Woodworth will conclude the program with the 18th century Italian opera
composer Donizetti’s Concertino for English Horn.
