Cable Television Services
The Telecommunications Office operates the University’s cable system. All cable problems are to be reported to the Telecommunications Office between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, 931 372 3800.

The meeting/recreation room is for the use of residents for group activities. All events must be scheduled with the Tech Village office prior to their occurrence. Come by the Tech Village office and fill out a reservation form at no charge. The Community Center is not a play area for children. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult while using the meeting/recreation room.
VAX terminals are located in the Tech Village Community Center during office hours. After office hours, you may check out a key. Only residents of Tech Village will have the use of the VAX terminals.
Garden plots are located to the west of the West-side apartments. Most plots are 25-feet by 50-feet in size. We have approximately 25 garden plots, and they are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each spring residents are given the opportunity to reserve a garden plot.
The residents of each apartment will be held responsible for their apartment and its furnishings. This includes cleanliness, general housekeeping practices and general appearance. Housekeeping custodians will clean the laundry room and the Tech Village Community Center. Do not leave your trash outside on your porch overnight as it is a fire hazard. The resident must take any items or boxes directly to the dumpsters closest to his/her building. Please discard all paper boxes; the glue in the boxes attracts roaches.
The ice machine is located in the Community Center and is for residents’ use only.
A free service laundry facility is located in Tech Village and is for residents use only. For the protection of your personal belongings do not leave them unattended. Call Residential Life maintenance hotline for repairs (931 372 3272).
Please do not drive, park, load or unload vehicles on the lawns. Flowers or vegetable plants cannot be planted in the yard in front of your apartment. Failure to adhere to these policies could result in disciplinary action.
Lead Based Paint
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have jointly issued regulations that require the disclosure of known lead based paint or lead based paint hazards in leased housing units that were built before 1978. Because our Tech Village apartments were built prior to 1978, we are required to provide you with a government booklet, “Protect Your Family From Lead in Your Home,” and any information pertaining to previous use of lead based paint in your apartment. No lead-based paint has been used in our apartments since 1978. If any lead-based paint was used, it would have been encapsulated by several coats of non-lead paint. No records are available before 1978.
The Loan Closet makes household items available for international students and their families for a small fee. The Loan Closet, located in the Tech Village Community Center, is opened by appointment only. For more information contact the Tech Village office.
The Tennessee Technological University Facilities and Business Services office schedules and completes repairs as needed. Problems in your apartment or problems you observe in public areas should be reported directly to the Tech Village maintenance hotline (931 372 3272) from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday.
In the event an emergency repair need occurs, contact University police at 931 372 3234. Emergency repairs are limited to the following categories: heat is not working; water is flooding the apartment; refrigerator/stove is out; commode is stopped up; hot water heater not working.
When repair needs are reported to our office, a maintenance work order is submitted to Facilities and Business Services. If you have a question about the status of your repair request, contact the Tech Village office. While every attempt is made to respect your privacy, by reporting maintenance needs in your apartment, you are authorizing access to your apartment by Facilities and Business Services staff during their working hours. Please plan accordingly.
The U.S. Postal Services provides mail delivery to each apartment mailbox. Notify all correspondents of your correct address as soon as possible. When you move into Tech Village, you are given two mailbox keys. If you lose your mailbox key you must go to the Tech Village office and report your lost key. The Postal Service will change the lock and charge you $15. If you plan to be away for more than a week, please notify the Postal Service on Willow Avenue. Campus mail will not be delivered to your Tech Village address. You need to check your campus mailbox on a weekly basis.

Spaces are available in or near the vicinity of your building for parking. Parking permits must be obtained from the University police office or during registration at the vehicle registration table. If for some reason you must bring a substitute car on campus, a temporary permit may be obtained from the University police office. Parking spaces are not reserved. Guests must have a visitor’s permit and park in front of the Community Center. It is not advisable to keep valuable possessions in your car. Residents are only allowed to have two vehicles per apartment. Residents must request special permission for more than two vehicles. Each vehicle must be drivable, have a vaild university parking decal and an updated license plate.
We have a mandatory pest control program in Tech Village. Apartments are treated approximately every two months. Schedules are posted in our monthly newsletter. The Tech Village office will provide information and schedules at time of check-in.
If you are experiencing a problem with pests, please contact the Tech Village office, and an additional time to spray or fog your apartment will be scheduled.
There are two playgrounds containing various types of equipment available for the Tech Village children. They are located inside the H-J-K-L east and P-Q-R-S east areas.
Parents are expected to supervise their own children. The playgrounds are enclosed with fences. Children under the age of thirteen (13) must be accompanied by an adult.
Residence Life Channel
The Office of Residential Life will keep you up to date on all Residential Life events, including important dates and deadlines on Channel 72. In addition, tune into Channel 72 for information regarding TVRA events, programs taking place in Tech Village. In the afternoons and evenings, you can enjoy first-run movies at no additional charge to you.
ResNet Services are available in all Tech Village apartments. Information Technology Services will assist students, if needed, to connect to the ResNet services.

Snow and Ice Removal
University personnel do not clean snow or ice from around apartments or buildings. You are responsible for clearing the snow or ice on your porch area or steps. Ice melt is provided in the Tech Village office during regular office hours.
Statement on Asbestos
Tennessee Technological University is committed to providing a safe, clean and healthy environment for students, faculty and staff. To accomplish this goal the University has implemented an ongoing program of campus beautification and renovation of existing structures including removal of asbestos and other hazardous materials. The University will continue to monitor this situation and plan for renovations.
Telephone Services and Voicemail
Each apartment is equipped with a permanent telephone. Students are not authorized to alter their telephone. For caller ID or voice mail access please contact the Office of Telecommunications at 931 372 3800. The student will be billed for long-distance calls on a monthly basis by the Office of Telecommunications. An authorization code is required for all telephone services and can be obtained through the Office of Telecommunications. Students who change apartments after having received the access code will be assessed a fee to move the access code after the first two weeks of the semester. All telephone repairs should be reported to the Office of Telecommunications.
Carbonated beverages, juice and snack machines are located in the laundromat. Beverage machines are also located on the back porch of the Tech Village Community Center. All problems should be reported to the Office of Residential Life maintenance hotline (931 372 3272).
If you lose money in a vending machine, refunds are available by contacting the University Business office located in Derryberry Hall, Room 100.
The University provides water services. However, a drippy hot water faucet can affect your electric bill; therefore, work order those drippy faucets immediately.
