Requirements

Minimum Requirements

The minimum operating requirements for ResNet are as follows:

  • 10/100 Network Interface Card (NIC)
  • TCP/IP Support (Operating System Dependent)
  • Web Browser with Javascript Support
  • All students connected to the TTU network via ResNet are REQUIRED to have antivirus software installed on their computers.
  • Phone Support for connecting to ResNet is provided with these (only these) Operating Systems:
    • Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7
    • Apple OS X

The recommended system requirements are

Windows Machine:

  • Windows XP/Vista/7
  • Intel Core Solo, Core Duo, Centrino Solo, Centrino Duo
    OR
    AMD Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2, Turion, Turion X2
  • 1024 MiB of RAM (Equivalent to 1 GiB)
  • Microsoft Office* (which can be purchased from the University)
  • 10/100 Network Interface Card (Most, if not all PCs come with this.)
  • For Laptops: Wireless Card** (B,G or N)

Macintosh:

  • Any Intel-based Mac (support for PowerPC is waning)
  • OS X
  • 1024 MiB of RAM (Equivalent to 1 GiB)
  • Microsoft Office* (which can be purchased from the University)
  • 10/100 Network Interface Card (Most, if not all Macs come with this.)
  • For Laptops: Wireless Card** (B,G or N)

* Microsoft Office is not required for ResNet; however, it is a common tool used in many classes.
** Wireless cards are not necessary to log into ResNet, but recommended for use in Administrative Buildings and Classrooms.
