Chairperson Walker opened the meeting at 1:30 p.m. The meeting began with the welcoming of new committee members and introduction of the committee members.

Bell’s Comments
Record Student Enrollment – Tennessee Tech made history this year with student enrollment topping 9,000 for the first time ever! Approximately 9,069 students are enrolled this fall, surpassing last year’s total of 8,890 making this the third straight year the University has had a record-breaking number of students.
This year also marks the largest increase to date in academic quality. Of entering freshmen, the number of honor, high-ACT, and engineering students has increased.
President Bell expressed thanks to everyone that made these increases possible.

President Bell announced the Luncheon Forum will take on a new spin beginning with the Monday, September 8 Forum. Faculty will be encouraged to attend and discuss issues with Provost Barker, President Bell, and other administrators. The Forum will be open for questions and discussion by all who are present. This change is an endeavor to promote the growth and development of the University family by opening the lines of communication to everyone on campus.
During the fall semester, Luncheon Forums will be held on September 8, October 6 and November 3. The topic of the September 8 Forum will be Vision 2015. Other Forums in the fall will focus on student and staff issues. President Bell expressed his anticipation of the September 8 Forum and his hope that many would plan to attend.
Chairperson Walker shared thank you notes from two recipients of the Student Educational Fund Scholarships—William Watkins and Lindsey Lane.
President Bell presided over the presentation of service pins to clerical and support staff (list of recipients attached). The total number of service years for the recipients was 860. Debra Walker and respective deans and supervisors assisted with the presentation.
