Tennessee Technological University Asbestos Awareness Training
This asbestos awareness course is for Tennessee Technological University employees and contractors that may encounter Asbestos Containing Material (ACM). This course will meet the general requirements to work around asbestos containing material. If at the conclusion you are not comfortable with your understanding of the material you are expected to contact Kent Clawson with the Safety and Environmental Services office (x3587) to arrange to address questions or concerns. This course will not be considered complete until training documents have been signed by your supervisor or Safety and Environmental Services Staff. You should not have these documents signed until you feel comfortable with your responsibilities and information provided.
This course meets the requirements for the training of maintenance and custodial staff set forth by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 40 CFR 763 and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) DISCLAIMER This course will NOT allow you to remove, clean-up, encapsulate, sample, or any other activities associated with asbestos management. This is an awareness course to provide information for safely working around asbestos and facilitate appropriate reactions to damaged material. A minimum of 16 hours of training is needed for those seeking to work directly with asbestos. Completion of this training module meets requirements for annual training. This Awareness training is specific to work you do for Tennessee Technological University and is in no way transferable to work you may do at or for other institutions. Consult with the hosting organization for work done outside of Tennessee Technological University. Failure to submit the registration page and quiz will result in an incomplete training session and you will be required to retake the course.
