FAQs for Transfer Students

Q1. How do I get started? I've just arrived on campus, now what do I do?

  • Advisement - First you need to meet with an advisor and get advised. The department to which you have been admitted can tell you who your advisor will be. It is a good idea to bring a transcript of your college work with you to your advising session.
  • Register - After you have been advised, you will need to go to a computer and register. You can do this from your home, in the Registration Center, or at any computer lab on campus. How to Register Online>
  • View Alternate PIN and Registration Times - In the Eagle Online Registration menu, Select Term and change the term to the term you will be registering for, Click on View Registration Time, Advisor, etc.
  • Parking Permit – While in the Eagle Online registration menu, you can select your parking permit. If it is summer or spring semester, you will need to pick up your parking permit in the Safety and Security building. If it is fall semester and you have a TTU box, the permit will be mailed to you. If you do not have a TTU box, you will need to pick up the permit at the Safety and Security building.
  • Meal plan - While in the Eagle Online registration menu, you may also choose to select a meal plan. This will be put onto your Eagle card via computer.
  • Eagle card - You will need to have your Eagle card made in room 230 of the Roaden University Center.
  • Residential Life - If you are living in a dorm, you will need to check in with Residential Life in Cooper Hall 217.
  • Confirm/pay fees - Make sure you pay your fees and confirm your schedule by the deadline on the University calendar. How to Confirm> 

Q2. How do I view Email Address information?

  • Go to  Eagle Online, click on "Registration, Grades, Student Services" option. enter secure Banner,
  • Select Personal Information, Email address.

Q3. How do I find my Advisor?

  • Go to  Eagle Online, click on "Registration, Grades, Student Services" option. enter secure Banner,

Q4. How do I Confirm my Schedule?

  • Confirm/pay fees - Make sure you pay your fees and confirm your schedule by the deadline on the University calendar. How to Confirm>
  • Q5. How do I view Cost of attendance after registering?

  • Go to  Eagle Online, click on "Registration, Grades, Student Services" option. enter secure Banner,

  • Q6. How do I view the individual Curricula?

    Go to the TTU Undergraduate Catalog. Under "Academic Organization & Programs of Study" link to "in depth" for find the different curricula. 

     

    Q7. How do I view course descriptions?

    Go to the TTU Undergraduate Catalog, and click on "Course Descriptions' in the left column.

    Q8. How do I open my Email?

    Finding Your Username
    Typically a student's username is the first initial, middle initial, up to 8 letters of the last name, followed by two digits (usually 42 or 43)
    Login to Eagle Online. Select "Registration, Grades, Student Services, Bill Payment" link, then "Enter Secure Banner".  Login with your Tech ID number and PIN. Under "Personal Information" section, select "Email address", and look under "Campus Email". The part of your email address before the @tech.edu is your username.

    **Before you can use your email account, you must change the password!

    • After locating your username, you'll need to change your password from your temporary password to a password of at least 6 characters (letters or numbers). To change your password, use the link at the bottom of the student email page (inbox.tntech.edu).
    • If you need assistance call 372-3388 or in person, go to Clement Hall, Room 313 or Johnson Hall, Room 214.

    Using inbox.tntech.edu

    • From the TTU Home Page, under "Quicklinks" menu (top right hand corner of the page); select "Students and Alumni Email" or go to Inbox.tntech.edu.  After initial activation, the account is available for you during your time at Tennessee Tech.

    Q10. How do I view my Financial Aid Information?

    • Go to  Eagle Online, click on "Registration, Grades, Student Services" option. enter secure Banner,
    • Select Financial Aid

    Q11. How do I view my Grades?

  • Go to  Eagle Online, click on "Registration, Grades, Student Services" option. enter secure Banner,

  • Q12. How do I view my registration Holds?

    • Go to  Eagle Online, click on "Registration, Grades, Student Services" option. enter secure Banner,

    Q13. How do I get my TTU ID (identification) card?

    After you have been admitted, go to the Eagle Card Office in the Roaden University Center, Room 230 to have your ID card made. This is called your Eagle Card.

    Q14. How do I select a Meal Plan/Parking permit?

    The meal plan you select during registration is automatically put onto your Eagle Card.

    Q17. How do I view my Tennessee Lottery Information?

    • Go to  Eagle Online, click on "Registration, Grades, Student Services" option. enter secure Banner,

    Q18. How do I get an unofficial Transcript?

    • Go to  Eagle Online, click on "Registration, Grades, Student Services" option. enter secure Banner,
    • Select Student

    • Select Academic Transcript, choose all levels, submit

    Q19. How do I view my Transfer credit?

  • Go to  Eagle Online, click on "Registration, Grades, Student Services" option. enter secure Banner,

  • View "Student Transfer Evaluation", select Institution, submit
  • Q20. How do I get Advised for my second or next semester?

    At some point during your current semester you will need to see your advisor to be advised for the upcoming semester. During this advising session you will receive your Registration Access Code RAC. The code is reassigned each semester using different numbers.

    Your advisor may contact you via email or regular mail to get advised. The University calendar has all the dates for advisement and registration, so check the calendar frequently. If you don't hear from your advisor and it is advisement week, stop by their office and see about being advised.

    Advisement is when you sit down with your advisor and discuss what classes you want to take for the next semester. Registration, also called early course selection, begins the week after advisement. You can be advised and register before the end of the current semester so check the calendar for dates.     Q21. How do I find out about Clubs and Organizations?

    Visit Clubs and organizations at TTU under Student Activities.

    If you should need specific information on a club or organization, just email them directly at their web address.

    Q22. How do I activate my Voice mail in my dorm room?

    If you are living in the dorms, it is extremely important that you activate your voice mail right away.

    Your 4-digit voice mailbox can be found by accessing your eagle online account or by calling 3803.

    Steps for Initialization:

    • Dial 3000.
    • When voice mail answers follow the prompts.
    • The temporary security code is 111111.

    If off campus you can reach the system by dialing 372-3000.

    For students who live on campus, voice processing offers an additional bonus. The voice processing system will answer your calls, give the caller your personal greeting, and take important messages you might have otherwise missed.
