Step 1 - Be enrolled full-time (12 hours) at Tennessee Tech
Step 2 - Apply for scholarships by December 15 through ScholarWeb.
- One application makes you eligible for all TTU scholarships for which you meet the criteria. You do not have to apply for each scholarship individually. You will use your T Number to apply online for scholarships.
Step 3 - Complete and submit the appropriate departmental page if you plan to major in one of the following:
Some departments require forms in addition to the Scholarship Application. Students majoring in one of the following areas, please complete and submit the appropriate departmental page:
- Agriculture (PDF)
- Chemistry/Health Sciences (PDF) (includes Pre-Professional Majors, but Nursing majors should not complete this form)
- Civil & Environmental Engineering (PDF)
- Computer Science (PDF) (Mary Patterson Scholarship only)
- Electrical & Computer Engineering (PDF)
- History (PDF)
- Human Ecology (PDF)
- Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering (PDF)
- Math (PDF)
- Special Education (PDF)
You should review the Checklists by Major to ensure that you submit all necessary materials. When you apply for scholarships online, you will complete the departmental page online as well. If you are unable to apply for scholarships online, you will need to print the departmental page in addition to the paper application. Be sure to include your full name and T Number on every form that you submit.
Step 4 - Complete and submit the Statement of Goals.
This can be found under the Forms section.
If you are majoring in Agriculture, Chemistry/Health Sciences, Computer Science, History, Human Ecology, or Math you do not need to submit the Statement of Goals. All other majors must submit this form. When you apply for scholarships online, you will complete the Statement of Goals online as well.
Step 5 - Complete the Financial Aid Estimate Form
- Complete the form which can be found at www.finaid.org/calculators/finaidestimate.phtml if you wish to be considered for need-based scholarships. This form is used exclusively for awarding TTU scholarshiops. All other forms of financial aid at TTU (including the Lottery HOPE scholarship) require completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The estimator does not replace the need for the FAFSA, so make sure you complete the FAFSA as soon as it becomes available (January 1). Be sure to put your name and T Number on the form after you print the results, and mail it to the Scholarship Office.
- Select 2008-2009 as the "Tables for Award Year" inside the Expected Family Contribution calculator, since that is the most recent option available on the website. Use your 2010 tax information to complete the form. The "Tables for Award Year" will not affect your results.
- If you have questions about the Financial Aid Estimate Form, visit the FAQs section for more information.
Step 6 - Submit additional materials
In order to be considered for scholarships, you must submit any additional materials that you wish to be reviewed such as letters of recommendation, departmental pages, estimate forms, etc. to the Scholarship Office by January 15. Be sure to include your full name and T Number on every form that you submit. Review the Checklists by Major and the scholarship criteria inside ScholarWeb to see if you have additional materials to submit.
IMPORTANT:
The following must be completed in order for you to receive a scholarship:
- You must have applied for scholarships at TTU

- You must be majoring within the department that offers you a scholarship
If you are selected to receive a scholarship, you will be notified by the awarding department.
