Updated University
Scholarship Applications are now available for students through
the scholarship website (www.tntech.edu/scholarships). Please
remind students to apply for scholarships online through ScholarWeb
for the upcoming 2009-10 academic year. Students may also
perform scholarship searches through ScholarWeb to determine
what scholarships are available. All 2009-2010 scholarships
should be awarded by the August deadline. Please remind your
students of the following:
- Searches for scholarship
criteria are accessible through ScholarWeb
- One application is
all that is needed to apply for any scholarship across campus
- Departmental scholarship
pages are accessible through ScholarWeb along
with the online scholarship application
- The deadline for
submission of all scholarship applications (new and current
students) is December 15 prior to the academic year in which
the student receives the award.
All scholarship applications
must be submitted via ScholarWeb (or to the Scholarship
Coordinator if printable copies are used) by December 15.
It is important that you direct all students (incoming and currently
enrolled) to complete the University Scholarship Application.
Students may be eligible for scholarships in areas outside of their
majors, but can only be considered by submitting the University
Scholarship Application.
ScholarWeb for
Faculty/Staff:
Phase II of ScholarWeb (for faculty/staff) is now
available. With Phase II, you can access important SIS and
scholarship application information in a web format. For your
convenience, beginning this year, Banner information (GPA, ACT/SAT
scores, addresses, etc.) has been added to the printable applications
viewable by committee members. You can still access the information
in spreadsheet format as you did last year as well.
The system can be very
helpful once you are accustomed to it. Please make sure all
selection committee members are aware that they also have access
to the system. The idea is to have your committee review the
applications online before meeting to selecting recipients.
Additional suggestions
for effectively using Phase II are included here.
The updated
University Scholarship Application is available annually between
August 15 and December 15. The application will be updated
prior to the August 15 start date annually. All information
for your selection process should be available beginning in January
2009.
An orientation session
about how to use ScholarWeb Phase II was conducted last
November. If you were unable to attend, are a new committee
member, or you just do not remember all that was covered, please
review the training
document (PDF). I strongly recommend adding the
Phase II website to your "Favorites" listing for quicker
and easier access. To do this, simply access the site and
select "Favorites" from your internet menu options.
Give your site a name you will recognize quickly in the favorites
list. Then, in the future when you need to access the program,
all you have to do is select the title from your favorites list.
Hard copies of the scholarship
applications will not be distributed this year since each committee
member has online access to the applications through ScholarWeb
Phase II. If there is a change in committee members, please
contact me so I can set up access to ScholarWeb for the
new committee member.
The Frequently
Asked Questions page has been updated for the new academic
year. Please become familiar with the information provided
there and direct students there as necessary. If you encounter
questions frequently that are not addressed by this list, please
feel free to contact me and I will try to update the page as quickly
as possible.
Please visit this
web site from time to time for updates and important information.
Forms useful in the scholarship process will also be included at
this site in the near future.
The approved Scholarship
Policies and Procedures are now accessible through
this web site. |
