To be considered for scholarships at TTU, you must:

Step 1 - Apply for Admission by December 15.

  • Request that your high school and college send your transcripts as soon as possible. Many scholarships require GPA consideration.
  • All transcripts and test scores should be submitted directly to the Office of Admissions and must be received by January 15.  Scholarship determinations will be based off the GPA on file at this time.

Step 2 - Apply for Scholarships by December 15 through ScholarWeb.

  • One application makes you eligible for all TTU scholarships for which you meet the criteria. You do not have to apply for each scholarship individually.
  • You will need your Tennessee Tech ID Number (T Number) to apply for scholarships online. Once you have applied for admission, you will receive a letter from the Office of Admissions containing your T Number. You may then use this to apply for scholarships online. If you have not yet received a T Number you may look it up online at www.tntech.edu/eo or you can use the Admissions username that you created when you applied online for admission.  If you prefer to fill out the paper application, this can be found on the Forms page. 
  • Spring term scholarships will be considered during the same time as Fall. Most scholarships are awarded for the Fall/Spring school year. Therefore, if you do not plan to attend until the following Spring or Summer, you should still complete the application by December 15 prior to the year you wish to attend.

Step 3 - Complete and submit the appropriate departmental page if you plan to major in one of the following:

You should review the Checklists by Major to ensure you submit all necessary materials. When you apply for scholarships online, you will fill out the departmental page online as well.  If you are unable to apply for scholarships online, you will need to print the paper departmental form in addition to the paper scholarship application.  Be sure to include your full name and T Number on every form that you submit. 

Step 4 - Complete the Financial Aid Estimate Form

  • Complete the form which can be found at www.finaid.org/calculators/finaidestimate.phtml if you wish to be considered for need-based scholarships.  This form is used exclusively for awarding TTU scholarships.  All other forms of financial aid at TTU (including the Lottery HOPE scholarship) require completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The estimator does not replace the need for the FAFSA, so make sure you complete the FAFSA as soon as it becomes available (January 1).  Be sure to put your name and T Number on the form after you print the results, and mail it to the Scholarship Office.
  • Select 2008-2009 as the "Tables for Award Year" inside the Expected Family Contribution calculator, since that is the most recent option available on the website.  Use your 2010 tax information to complete the form.  The "Tables for Award Year" will not affect your results.

Step 5 - Submit additional materials

In order to be considered for scholarships, you must submit any additional materials that you wish to be reviewed such as letters of recommendation, departmental pages, estimate forms, etc. to the Scholarship Office by January 15. Be sure to include your full name and T Number on every form that you submit. Review the Checklists by Major and the scholarship criteria inside ScholarWeb to see if you need to submit any additional materials.

IMPORTANT:

The following must be completed in order for you to receive a scholarship:

  • You must have applied for admission and scholarships at TTU
  • You must be, or plan to be, enrolled full-time (12 hours)
  • You must be majoring within the department that offers you a scholarship.  The major on file for you in the Office of Admissions will be the major used for scholarship consideration.  if you wish to change your major for scholarship consideration, you must do so by January 15th through the Office of Admissions ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ).
  • You must have submitted all necessary documents, especially ACT scores and transcripts.

If you are selected to receive a scholarship, you will be notified by mail by the awarding department.

All scholarships will be awarded by March 15
