Cumberland Plateau Regional Science & Engineering Fair
An Affiliate Fair of the International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) Organization

Student & Team Eligibility

  • Students in the 4th through 12th grades attending a public, private, parochial or home school (grade equivalent) within our region (see list of 16 eligible counties), whose projects have received an award or honorable mention in a school fair, are eligible to enter a project/exhibit.SE exhibit_7_wb
  • Students whose schools did not have a school fair are eligible to enter.

16 Counties 

  • Bledsoe, Cannon, Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Scott, Smith, Van Buren, Warren, and White.

Three Divisions by Grade Level

  • Intermediate Division (4th, 5th & 6th Grade)
  • Junior Division (7th, 8th & 9th* Grade)
  • Senior (10th, 11th & 12th Grade)
  • *An individual student or two-person team in the 9th grade may choose to compete in the Senior Division.

Individual & Two-Person Team Projects/Research Exhibits

  • Individual student and two-person team exhibitions are accepted. 
  • A student or two-person team may enter only one project. 
  • No more than two people are allowed on a team.
  • $10 Registration Fee Per Individual Student Projects.
  • $20 Registration Fee Per Two-Person Team Projects.
  • Registration Fee is waived if a participating student qualifies for free or reduced lunch at school.

ISEF Required Research Forms & Approvals
NO RESEARCH PROJECT CAN START BEFORE PROJECT REVIEW, APPROVALS & SIGNATURES

ATTENTION: Students may not begin any research until the Required Forms are reviewed, approved and signed by the appropriate individuals.

  • Including: Adult Sponsor, Institutional Review Board (IRB) and/or Scientific Review Committee (SRC) - in the case(s) of human, vertebrate/invertebrate subjects)

    IMPORTANT UPDATE
    NO FIREARMS RESEARCH WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE REGIONAL FAIR.

    • Form 1A: 2014 Student Checklist / Research Plan

    • Form 1B: 2014 Approval Form

    • TEAMS: Each team member of a two-person team must complete form 1B; a team may submit a single copies of Form 1 & 1A.
    • Paper copies of these forms MUST accompany projects when your school's award winners and honorable mention students check-in, set-up and display their research exhibit on Saturday, March 22, 2014.SE research_exhibit_review_station_wb

Institutional Review Board (IRB) & Scientific Review Committee (SRC) Approvals | REQUIRED FOR CERTAIN PROJECTS ONLY

  • For other specialized research forms, please visit the ISEF Document Library to access PDF documents of the necessary forms.

Local IRB / SRC Project Review Groups & Approval Signatures

  • Schools are requested to form a local IRB and SRC Review Committees to review their students' projects for eligibility.
  • IRB / SRC review groups consist of a minimum of three (3) members. Schools must submit the list of members' names and email addresses to the Cumberland Plateau Regional Fair.
