- Bledsoe, Cannon, Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Scott, Smith, Van Buren, Warren, and White.
Eligibility
- Students in the 4th through 12th grades attending a public, private, parochial or home school (grade equivalent) within our region (see list of 16 eligible counties), whose projects have received an award or honorable mention in a school fair, are eligible to enter a project/exhibit.
- Students whose schools did not have a school fair are eligible to enter.
Individual & Team Projects/Exhibits
- Individual student and team exhibitions are accepted. A student or team may enter only one project.

Request Judges for Your School's Fair Here

- Name (first and last) of the science teacher, or other administrator, requesting judges.
- Name of school; county in which school is located.
- Teacher's contact email address, school phone number, teacher's cell phone number (if available).
- Indicate the grade level divisions you want judged: Intermediate (4th-6th); Junior (7th-9th); Senior (10-12th).
- Indicate the specific categories that will be represented at your fair: Biological, Physical, Mathematics, and/or Engineering.
- Number of participants you expect for your fair.
- Number of judges you estimate are required for your fair.
- Date and time of your fair.

Prior to starting research, students must complete/have signed the required research forms:
- Senior Division (10th-12th): ALL REQUIRED FORMS & Submit a 100 word Project Abstract/Description

After Your School’s Fair
- Please provide the division/category award winners and honorable mention winners with the Student & Parent/Guardian Participation & Registration Information (PDF).
- Inform them of the Registration Fee: $10 per individual project; $10 per team project.
NOTE: The $10 registration fee is waived if a student qualifies for free or reduced lunch program at school; teachers will verify eligibility. - Inform them that Students & Parent/Guardians can complete the Online Registration through the STEM Center's MarketPlace "store" located in the REGISTRATION & FORMS tab above.
Exhibitor Check In for Regional Fair
- Friday, March 30th from 3pm to 8:30pm in the Oakley STEM Center Lobby
- Students and Parent/Guardians may check in research exhibits on Friday, March 30th from 3-8:30pm; NO CHECK IN ON SATURDAY.
- Teachers may check in exhibits on behalf of students if parents and/or students are unable to check in during those hours.

Be prepared for the 2012 Cumberland Plateau Regional Science & Engineering Fair…If your child won an award or received honorable mention during their school’s science and engineering fair or if their school did not host a fair, please review the guidelines and information for participating at the regional level.

What Happens During the Fair?
- The fair starts on Friday, March 30 with Exhibition Check In from 3pm-8:30pm (central time). THERE IS NO EXHIBIT CHECK IN ON SATURDAY DURING THE FAIR.
- Student participants, their families and friends are invited to attend the Opening Ceremony on Friday night at 7pm, featuring a guest speaker.
- Project/exhibition judging takes place Saturday morning from 8am-12pm:
- SENIOR DIVISION competitors must be present to respond to judges during this time.
- JUNIOR DIVISION competitors are encouraged to be present to answer judges' questions, but not required.
- INTERMEDIATE DIVISION competitors are encouraged to be present for the experience, but not required.
- Exhibit areas are closed to parents and the public during judging, 8am-12pm. A list of activities and accessible dining will be provided to families.
- Exhibits are open for public viewing from 12-3pm.
- Awards Ceremony begins at 3pm in the STEM Center Auditorium.
Photo / Video Release
The regional science and engineering fair takes photos and video during the annual fair; and photos of the award and honorable mention recipients. We request permission to use your child’s likeness in future promotions for the fair.
