About Jessica

Jessica H

What is your favorite thing about TTU?

My favorite thing about TTU is the size of the school. I enjoy having classes small enough that the teacher knows who you are and really makes you feel like a part of the class instead of just another face in the crowd.

What is your favorite quote?

“If you believe in the impossible you can see the invisible.”

What is your most memorable TTU experience so far?

My most memorable experience at TTU so far would have to be participating in the Pep Rally right before homecoming. I had never seen so many people that were just as excited as I was to be attending TTU and showing their purple pride. Homecoming and participating in pep rally is something that I look forward to from year to year.

How did you choose your major?

I choose my major because when I was a junior in high school I got a job at an accounting firm in my hometown and I got to see a little bit about what an accounting firm does. I decided that this would be the perfect major for me because I love trying to figure out problems and being organized.

What is your favorite meal at TTU?

My favorite meal is a cheeseburger and seasoned fries from the Backyard Grill.

Advice for incoming college freshman from your experience so far?

Learn how to manage your time. There is always stuff to do but without time management skills there is no way to participate and make the grades you are shooting for.

What is your favorite TTU Tradition and why?

My favorite tradition is “The Blizzard”. There is nothing more enjoyable than seeing the Hoop covered in toilet paper after the first points scored for the year.

What kind of extracurricular activities are you involved in on campus and in the community?

I am involved in Tech Activities Board (TAB), Relay for Life Committee, TTU Mortar Board, Homecoming Committee, Peer Mentor, and Student Ambassador.

What movie star would you play in a movie? Why?

I would have to say Katherine Heigl because she always plays a sophisticated, classy, and well organized person.

What was your biggest mistake as a freshman? What did you learn from that experience?

One of the biggest mistakes I made as a freshman was not getting out of my dorm room and getting to know people. The only people I really talked to when I first got to TTU was my roommate and the girls across the hall.  After my first semester in college I learned that it isn’t any fun unless you have some friends to hang out and study with.

What is your favorite book?

My favorite book would have to be “The Last Song” by Nicholas Sparks.
