BRICK week

 The Commission on the Status of Blacks is hosting B.R.I.C.K. week events – Building Responsible Individuals with Core Knowledge – April 1-4 in the Leona Lewis Black Cultural Center in the Roaden University Center room 258. The events are open to all students from all majors and departments. These events are designed to give students the opportunity to reach out to other students and professionals in the Tech community to work toward personal and professional success. The events are as follows:


• Monday April 1 (3 – 4 p.m.) Social Media – The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: A student-led discussion on the positive and negative uses for social media services such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.

• Tuesday April 2 (11 a.m. – 1 p.m.) Turning Service to Skills—Using Community Involvement as Professional Development: This event includes a 30 minute presentation at 11 a.m. to learn how to choose the best volunteer experiences to improve your resume. Representatives from TTU’s Service Learning Center will be on hand to answer questions.

• Wednesday April 3 (4:30 – 6:30 p.m.) Making Connections that Count: This is an opportunity to practice your networking skills with TTU faculty and staff as well as members of the Putnam County business community. There will be a 30 minute information session at 4:30 for some quick tips on successfully starting conversations and “working a room.”

• Thursday April 4 (11 a.m. – 1 p.m.) Information Session—Planning for Graduate Studies: This information session is designed to help students explore advanced degree programs including: how to apply, what to include in your application, strategies to impress an admissions committee and steps to take if you’re admitted. Representatives from the TTU Graduate School will also be available to provide information to students.
