A working first draft of the university’s strategic plan for the next five years is available for campus review and input at https://www.tntech.edu/strategicplanning/strategic-goals/
The draft is the culmination of several months’ work by the ad-hoc Planning and Budget Committee. It incorporates priority items identified by President Bell, system-wide goals developed by the Tennessee Board of Regents, and the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis developed by the committee with campus-wide participation.
The five-year strategic plan will guide the university’s actions related to budget decisions, capital space allocation, and setting priorities for the academic master plan and the upcoming capital campaign, among others.
The goals identified by the campus committee include strategic objectives and action plans related to four key areas: access, student success, quality and resourcefulness. Four subcommittees were created to develop objectives in each main area.
Goals and key objectives have now been compiled and summarized in a table that is being updated online at the strategic planning website. Faculty and staff are encouraged to review the draft and provide suggestions or feedback anonymously through the website.
The committee plans to have the final 2010-2015 strategic plan completed by July 1. Campus units will be required to update their progress on the current (2005-2010) plan beginning May 7.
