Rocket scientist, TTU alumna to open science fair ceremony
The Millard Oakley STEM Center at TTU will welcome Vicki LeFevre, aerospace engineer and 1981 TTU alumna, as the guest speaker for the opening ceremony of the 58th regional science and engineering fair Friday at 7 p.m. in the STEM Center auditorium.
LeFevre earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at TTU, then studied at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where she earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering in 1991 and a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering in 1996.
She is an aerospace engineer at the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal, Ala., with more than 29 years of engineering experience in missile research and development. LeFevre has extensive experience in autopilot design, six degree-of-freedom simulations, systems analysis, MicroElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS) based inertial sensors, Global Positioning System (GPS)/Inertial Navigation Systems (INSs), and inertial instrument test and evaluation.
Science fair exhibits will be open for public viewing from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
