TTU student takes first place at solar energy meeting

Tennessee Tech graduate student Akshay Bauskar had the first-place poster at the June meeting of the Tennessee Solar Conversion and Storage Using Outreach, Research and Education organization.

Bauskar worked with Thomas Zawodzinski, a chemical engineering professor at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and an expert in energy conservation and storage, to produce a poster about catalysts for direct formic acid fuel cells. Bauskar won an iPad for his efforts.

More than a year ago, Tennessee received a $20 million grant from the National Science Foundation to boost the state’s energy-related research and education efforts. TN-SCORE manages the multi-institutional partnership.

Bauskar is the son of Sunil K. Bauskar and Jayshree S. Bauskar of Mumbai, India.
