The Tennessee Tech University human resources office is encouraging employees to take advantage of their Employee Assistance Program benefits by attending an upcoming seminar about balancing work and life.

The seminar will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday in RUC 342. It will be followed, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., by a supervisor training session. To register for either or both, include the seminar name in an email to Sharon King, HR personnel assistant, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The EAP program is a counseling service included in employees’ benefits packages. Employees can get a certain amount of free and confidential counseling on financial, personal or legal issues. More details are available at each of the bi-monthly EAP seminars.

“Counseling is more common than it used to be,” King said. “It’s just like going to the doctor; everybody has problems that maybe they can’t deal with and a counselor can help them get over the hump.”

The deadline to register for Thursday’s sessions is 10 a.m. Monday.
