June 2010 PD Workshops for Teachers
Welcome to the inaugural summer of Professional Development Workshops for Teachers (P – 12) in the NEW Millard Oakley STEM Center at TTU. Experience hands-on projects, receive high-level instruction from professionals in the field, and have access to STEM resources that are unmatched in the region.

General Information
Registration Opens- March 16th and closes May 1st for the June PD Workshops.
Workshop Schedules
The STEM Center offers morning, afternoon, and all-day professional development options. Central Time Zone.
- Morning Workshops (3 hour) / Sign-in: 8-8:30am / Sessions: 8:30-11:30am
- Afternoon Workshops (3 hour) / Sign-in: 12-12:30pm / Sessions: 12:30-3:30pm
- All-Day Workshops (6 hour) / Sign-in: 8-8:30am / Sessions: 8:30-11:30am /
Lunch: 11:30-12:30pm / Sessions 12:30-3:30pm
Registration Information
- Talk to your supervisor to determine which sessions will apply to your In-Service requirements.
- Check with your supervisor regarding the availability of funds for your registration.
- You may register for more than one workshop.
- Pre-registration only; there is no “walk-in” registration available on the days of the workshops.

- Mail a copy of your completed Registration Form with a check for the total amount of the workshop(s) to:

Registration Confirmation
- You will receive email confirmation to the address entered in the Registration Form by May 15th.
- You will receive an official letter after the workshop from the Millard Oakley STEM Center documenting your attendance and the content of the session you attended for submission for LEA.
- If your session does not have the necessary minimum number of teachers registered by May 1, you will be contacted to determine an appropriate alternate workshop.
Refunds
- The STEM Center will refund registration fees for any workshops that are cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. Refunds are not offered for workshops that “make.”
Lunches
- Lunches are not included in the cost of the workshops. The cost of lunch for an all-day workshop is the responsibility of the participant.
- If your school and/or district includes the cost of a box lunch ($5.75) in their registration Purchase Order, the STEM Center will have a box lunch available for you. Box lunches include a sandwich, chips, cookie, fruit, and beverage.
- If your are paying for your PD experience personally, and include the cost of a box lunch in your registration check the STEM Center will have a lunch available for you.
- If you do not pay for a box lunch with your registration fee, you may take advantage of the convenience of the STEM Center’s on-site food service, Out Takes. Enjoy made-fresh sandwiches and salads; includes vegetarian options.
- In addition to Out Takes, a list of off-site dining options (close to the STEM Center) will be available to participants.
Location
- The Millard Oakley STEM Center is located in Cookeville, Tennessee on TTU’s campus in Ray Morris Hall: 155 West 7th Street, Cookeville, Tennessee
Directions from Willow Avenue
- Travel north on Willow Avenue in Cookeville.
- Turn right onto 7th Street.
- Proceed two blocks down 7th Street toward TTU.
- The STEM Center/Ray Morris Hall will be on your left.
- Turn left onto Stadium Drive, parking lots will be on your left, behind the STEM Center.
Parking & Entrance
- After parking follow the covered walkway for Ray Morris Hall, at the rear entrance of the facility into the lobby of the STEM Center.
