STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER FOR OR OBTAIN PERMITS FOR ANY UPPER DIVISON CLASSES UNTIL THEY ARE FULLY ADMITTED TO THE TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM. A PRE-REQ/TEST CODE ERROR WILL BE GIVEN DURING REGISTRATION IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN FULLY ADMITTED.
Requirements for Admission
- A formal application must be filed once a student has reached 30 or more credit hours excluding ADP (for nonpost-baccalaureate undergraduates).
- Minimum of a 2.500 GPA.
- Completion of the following classes (for nonpost-baccalaureate undergraduates).
- ENGL 1010 and 1020 with a C or higher
- FOED 2011 or equivalent with a B or higher
- For ARED-ARED 2020
- For HEC- HEC 1000
- For AGED- AGED 2120
- For MUED- MUED 1820
- For EXPW - FOED 2011 and EXPW 1021
- FOED 1820/1822 with a B or higher. (Note: You are exempt from this class if you had one of the above major based equivalents)
- Testing
- Undergraduates—PPST(Praxis I Exam)
- When taking a Praxis test, be sure to add TTU as a recipient of your test scores.

- You are exempt from taking the Praxis I Exam if you have these scores:
- ACT (Composite of 22)
- SAT (Score of 1020)
- Post-baccalaureate—The above testing exemptions ONLY apply to post-baccalaureates who are enrolled as undergraduates. Post-baccalaureate students who are enrolled with the Graduate School MUST take the MAT (minimum score of 372) or the GRE (900/4.0) instead.
- Praxis I Waivers may be available in certain cases.

- Completion of the background check authorization form.
- Completion of the required background check through L-1 Identity Solutions.

Note: This requirement does NOT apply to those who are getting the AST Degreethrough the 2+2 program.- You may view the Disposition Assessment rating scale.
- The four dispositions MUSTcome from the following people. You will need an accurate email addressfor each person listed!
- Academic Advisor
- College Level Education Instructor (Ex. FOED 2011 or EDPY 2200)
- College Instructor in Major Teaching Field (Ex. History, Math, English, etc.)
- K-12 Teacher/Principal/Counselor
This does not have to be someone who had you in class. You may ask any public school teacher that knows you well enough to properly fill out the rating scale.
*A post-baccalaureatestudent is someone who already has a bachelors or higher degree. If that does not apply to you then ignore the post-baccalaureate information. Post-baccalaureates are allowed to take up to 9 hours their first semester as a graduate student and up to 12 hours as an undergraduate student.
