Teaching license application for an initial teaching license, an ILLA or ILLB or an additional endorsement which required coursework must be submitted through the University where you completed the coursework/program. The Tennessee Department of Education will accept applications for endorsements added by Praxis exam only and applications to have a degree added to your license directly. (You do not need to go through Tennessee Tech to add an endorsement by test only)

***The Tennessee Department of Education has information on their standard processing time for applications and information on printing a copy of your license on their website. Beginning July 1, 2012 the Tennessee Department of Education stopped printing and mailing teaching licenses.
***Highly Qualified Status is not submitted or updated by Tennessee Technological University. Contact your school system to have the proper forms submitted for your Highly Qualified Status to be updated or added to your licenses.
The application paperwork for an initial teaching license must be submitted by the University. The TTU Office of Teacher Education processes this paperwork for students completing a Bachelors degree and teacher licensure or completing the post bac licensure program at Tennessee Technological University.
Student Teachers or Students Completing Residency I & II should NOT complete this form until instructed to do so. You will receive information on when to complete the form during your final semester.

Endorsements being added by test only may be submitted directly to the Tennessee Department of Education. Information for this process is found under #2 at the Tennessee Department of Education website.
Students who have completed coursework to add an endorsement must submit their application paperwork through the University where the coursework/additional endorsement program was completed.

The application paperwork for an Administrator’s License must be submitted by the University. The TTU Office of Teacher Education processes this paperwork for students completing the ILLA or ILLB program at Tennessee Technological University.
The Application process should be started and completed during your last semester in the program.

***On September 1, 2011 the Beginning Administrator’s License (BAL) was replaced by the ILLA and ILLB license. After December 1, 2011 the Tennessee Department of Education will not accept applications for the BAL license.

Tennessee Technological University offers the Occupational Licensure Program for individuals with a current Apprentice Occupational License working toward a Professional Occupational License. The Occupational Licensure Program consists of 18 hours of course work. The coursework is available on campus or online through RODP.
The requirements and application for obtaining an Apprentice Occupational License and for advancing to a Professional Occupational License are on the Tennessee Department of Education website.
Candidates who wish to complete the Occupational Licensure Program must complete a Transcript Analysis Request and be admitted to the University before he or she will be allowed to register for classes.
