Tech hosts Fan Appreciation Night tomorrow as basketball season ends

With Ohio Valley Conference tournament seedings riding on the outcomes, our men's and women's basketball teams return to Eblen Center tomorrow, Feb. 28, to close the regular season against perennial rival Morehead State.

In addition to the games, fans will be able to celebrate the careers of five seniors, who will be honored during the evening. For even more revelry, fans can attend the annual "Pregame with the Eaglettes" dutch-treat luncheon tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Golden Corral on Interstate Drive.

"The excitement at our home games this year, particularly the OVC games, has given us an advantage as the season progressed," says interim Athletics Director Frank Harrell.

Athletics will be honoring basketball fans for their support of the teams this year with drawings throughout the night for gifts and prizes. One lucky student will win a prize to pay his or her maintenance fees for 2004-05, valued up to $3,750. Another student will win a prize to cover fees for one semester, valued up to $1,875.

"We could not have done this without the generous contributions of many supporters, such as Goody's and Dr. Gail Fields," says Harrell. "Every prize we have shared this season has come from supporters of Tech athletics."

Goody's is sponsoring the games that evening and fans will have the opportunity to win "Goody" packs and prizes from the clothing retailer.

All ticket holders will have the opportunity to enter drawings for prizes that will include season tickets to Golden Eagle football during the 2004 season and for Tech basketball during the 2004-05 seasons.

Tech student groups will have one last opportunity to win the $250 Spirit Prize, being awarded by Danny Brooks and Tom Morris of Freedom Outlets.

Tickets for the contests are available at the Eblen Center Ticket Office. In addition, Tech fans can purchase tickets to the OVC first round, which will be hosted by Tech at Eblen Center on Tuesday, March 2.

If you plan to attend tomorrow morning's Eaglette pregame luncheon, call 3922 so the team can provide the restaurant with an accurate count of expected attendance.

Tomorrow night's doubleheader opens with Golden Eaglette action at 5:30, with the men's game beginning at 7:30.

Call Athletics at 3940 for more information.
