The
Golden Eagle football team will hold a benefit car wash on Saturday,
May 8, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society's
Relay for Life. The event is part of the team's commitment to the
NCAA CHAMPS program for community involvement.
Players and coaches will wash vehicles from 9
to 11 a.m. in the southeast corner of Tucker Stadium. The car wash
is free, but donations will be accepted for the Relay for Life program.
"The Relay for Life program is important
to me, and to a number of our players, so we're hoping this event
will be successful," says assistant coach Russ Ehrenfeld, who
is coordinating the car wash. "Everything we collect will go
directly to the local American Cancer Society as part of its Relay
for Life events."
The car wash will lead up to the "Gathering
of Eagles" tailgate party and picnic, which is set for 11 a.m.
at the TTU campus tennis courts, located at the southwest corner
of Tucker Stadium (see related story).
The day's activities culminate in a Golden Eagle baseball doubleheader
against Samford University, beginning at 1 p.m., at the Averitt
Express Baseball Complex.
For more information on the car wash, call Ehrenfeld
at 3930.
