Stanley Rogers, vice chairman of the Tennessee Board of Regents,
will address about 426 graduates at summer commencement ceremonies
beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 7, in Hooper Eblen Center.
Rogers has been a member of the TBR since 1994
and is a senior partner with the Rogers & Duncan Law Firm. He
also served in the Tennessee House of Representatives for six years
and was majority leader during the 88th and 89th General Assemblies.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Middle
Tennessee State University and a juris doctorate from Vanderbilt
University. He was admitted to practice law in Tennessee in 1964
and is a member of the Coffee County Federal and American Bar Associations,
Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial
Lawyers of America.
Rogers is also a fellow of the American College
of Trial Lawyers and has served as a member of the Lawyers Involved
for Tennessee organization, Tennessee Appellate Court Nominating
Commission, Tennessee Judicial Evaluation Commission and the U.S.
Circuit Judge Nominating Commission, Sixth Circuit.
He lives in Manchester with his wife, Pat. The
couple has three children.
Students graduating this summer hail from eight
states including Tennessee, 59 Tennessee counties and four foreign
countries. They represent 32 undergraduate fields of study and 16
graduate fields.
Following summer commencement, TTU will have granted
more than 60,000 degrees, including more than 30,000 since 1986.
