| There's
a sure way to enjoy a treat the evening before the ghosts and goblins
come out Halloween night. The 22nd annual Friends of the Library
Foundation’s Champagne Gala takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. on
Saturday, Oct. 30, offering food and entertainment for everyone
to enjoy.
Proceeds from the Gala — which will be held
at the Cookeville/Putnam County Chamber of Commerce Leslie Town
Centre, located at 1 W. First St. — will benefit the Angelo
and Jennette Volpe Library and Media Center.
The cost of the event is $20 a person and includes
champagne — as well as a selection of non-alcoholic beverages
such as punch or coffee — and gourmet appetizers and desserts.
“One of the things that makes this event
unique is that all of the food is prepared by members of the Friends
of the Library, and it is always incredible,” says Kristie
Phillips, Friends of the Library committee member. “From shrimp
cocktail and beef tenderloin to stuffed mushrooms and smoked salmon,
this event offers a sampling of some of the best food in town.”
O.J. Cummins and the Four Horns, an easy-listening
jazz ensemble, will return this year to provide music.
Tickets are available at the Volpe Library or
from members of Friends of the Library. For more information or
