Spooky music, mad scientists, more at Cumberland Quintet concert Oct. 26

Audience members will be in for a real scream when the Cumberland Quintet presents its “Halloween Extravaganza” concert at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 26, in Wattenbarger Auditorium.

“We try to hold a Halloween-themed concert every four years, and this show will be very different from the usual Cumberland Quintet concerts,” says William Woodworth, who directs and plays oboe for the group.

Among the pieces to be performed are “Tocatta in D Minor” by Bach, “Cantina Band” from Star Wars, “Funeral March of the Marionettes” and the theme from "The Addams Family."

In addition to spooky music to mark the seasonal festivity, other features of the show will include a demonstration by Chemistry Professor Dale Ensor’s alter ego, Dr. Magic, and a blood-curdling scream contest.

A showing of the short film “Brass Witch Factor,” made by members of the quintet, will add to the mystery created by the performance, and audience members are encouraged to dress in costume.

The concert is free and open to the public.
