Sports Hall of Fame nominations due June 30

Nominations for Tech Sports Hall of Fame inductees are being accepted through June 30.

New members are inducted each year during the Letterwinners' Breakfast as part of Homecoming festivities. This year's Sports Hall of Fame dinner is set for Friday, Nov. 4.

Nominations remain active for three consecutive years. Criteria for membership:

* Open to persons who have made a significant contribution to the university through intercollegiate athletics as an athlete or non-athlete (coach, administrator, supporter).

* Consideration will be given to continued contributions to society through community activities, through performance in chosen fields, and through avocations on a level as to bring credit and distinction to the university.

* Athletes must have received a degree (from Tennessee Tech or other four-year institution), and a period of 10 years must have elapsed since the competitor completed eligibility. At least five years must have elapsed for a coach, administrator or supporter.

Nominations received after June 30 will be considered the following year. To request a nomination form, call Athletics at 3949. Send nominations to Athletics at Box 5057.

Last year's inductees into the Sports Hall of Fame were Delores Wheatley, assistant athletics director for academic advisement/student success; Anthony Avery, point guard, men's basketball; Beth Keylon, pitcher, softball; and Andrea Roark, shortstop, softball.
