Hamilton, Maxwell named interim vice presidents

This month, we have new appointees as interim vice presidents for University Advancement and for Business and Fiscal Affairs.

Tom Hamilton replaces Paul Isbell upon his retirement as vice president for University Advancement, and Linda Maxwell replaces Terry Rector upon his retirement as vice president for Business and Fiscal Affairs.

Both Hamilton and Maxwell formerly served as associate vice presidents of their respective departments. Search committees will be formed this fall with the expectation that the positions will be filled on a permanent basis next year.

In his role as vice president for University Advancement, Hamilton is responsible to the president for managing a comprehensive institutional advancement program that includes five distinct operations — Advancement Services, Alumni Relations, Photographic Services, Public Affairs and University Development.

As chief development officer, Hamilton also cultivates and solicits selected donor prospects, particularly among major corporations, foundations and individuals, with the goal of generating large gifts for the university, and plans, executes and reports on periodic major fund-raising campaigns as required for the university’s advancement.

Maxwell, in her role as vice president for Business and Fiscal Affairs, serves as our chief fiscal officer, making her responsible to the president for receiving, disbursing and accounting of all money due the institution and for disbursing all funds in accordance with the annual budget of nearly $100 million.

She also administers the financial and accounting aspects of student loans, grants and scholarships and provides financial management of our auxiliary enterprises, with direct supervision of Food Services and our Post Office, and other campus units, including Plant Operations, Business Services, Buildings and Grounds, Utilities and Telecommunications.
