This May, Janet Johnson, University Police, became the latest member of our staff to pass the Certified Professional Secretary Examination, recognized around the world as the "capstone" of secretarial professionalism and administered by the International Association of Administrative Professionals.

Josephine McQuail, English, organized the 36th Annual Convention of the Northeast Modern Language Association, held in May in Cambridge, Mass. McQuail, as the group's executive director, presided over the convention, which featured such luminaries as Robert Pinsky, former U.S. poet laureate, as well as writers sponsored by the Swiss consulate and Spanish ministry.
