Athletics is combining two popular events into one day of activity, inviting area fans to meet the Golden Eagle football team, staff and other student-athletes, followed by a picnic lunch.

Football Fan Day will take place Saturday, Aug. 27, in Tucker Stadium, followed by the second annual "Gathering of Eagles" picnic in the Regions Bank Tailgate Park.

The entire event is free, and everyone is invited.

The team's annual Picture Day begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by the picnic lunch at 11:30 a.m. Fans are invited to join the team on the field, meet the players and staff, take pictures and get autographs.

"The team always looks forward to Picture Day because it gives them a nice break in routine," says coach Mike Hennigan. "We enjoy getting the chance to meet new fans, see old friends and visit with family. I know the fans who come to this event always have a good time."

Many student-athletes will be on hand for the picnic, too. With classes beginning on Monday, Aug. 29, much of the Tech student body will also be back on campus and is also invited to participate in the "Gathering of Eagles."

Season tickets are on sale for the 2005 Golden Eagle football season. Fans can order tickets by calling the Tennessee Tech Athletics Ticket Office at 3940. Payroll deduction is available for TTU faculty and staff; call Human Resource Services at 3034 for details.
