| Excavation
behind the Roaden University Center is scheduled to begin Monday,
Aug. 15, as crews continue their work on improving our chilled water
distribution system.
New pipes will be laid from the RUC to the intersection
of Peachtree Avenue and University Drive; the area closest to the
RUC will be completed in time for fall semester traffic. The site
will be fenced off to traffic once excavation begins. As sections
are completed, streets will re-open. Pedestrian bridges will be
strategically located to help students, faculty and staff reach
their destinations on time.
Facilities anticipates that work will continue
by mid-September on the installation from Peachtree west to the
McGee Boulevard intersection.
Generators are being installed in the parking
area west of the Nursing Annex before the start of fall semester
and should not disrupt traffic flow. The generators are part of
our energy avoidance and approximately 40 percent rate reduction
program, and the project involves the Cookeville Electric Department,
which is changing to a single point delivery electrical system for
campus. No additional street excavation is anticipated at this site.
