| The
campus community is invited to a free web conference, "Applying
Fair Use Doctrine in Colleges and Universities," in the Angelo
and Jennette Volpe Library, Room 110, from noon to 2 p.m., Tuesday,
Aug. 23.
The conference covers topics particularly relevant
to staff responsible for institutional copyright creation and enforcement,
including librarians, deans, department heads, policy officers,
and legal counsel.
Applying fair use doctrine will help institutions:
* understand the origins and evolution of fair
use;
* determine if the use of a particular work is
fair under the law;
* learn how fair use applies to materials used
in the classroom;
* understand how fair use pertains to electronic
reserves;
* and craft policy around fair use doctrine.
No reservations required. For more information,
call Pat McGee at 3544. |
