Services, Human Resource Services and Purchasing are among our most
awesome offices.
They are the winners of this year’s TTU
Pride Days Awesome Office Decorating Contest, taking top prize in
the respective categories of door decoration, large office and small
office.
“It was a tough competition," says
Tracey LeFevre of Public Affairs, a contest judge. "A number
of offices that entered this year were completely new to the contest,
but the levels of spirit and creativity displayed by all the entrants
was impressive."
Career Services won the door decoration category
with an “Eagles Gather Here” theme that incorporated
a wreath centerpiece, decorated in golden fall foliage, feathers
and an eagle’s nest.
Human Resource Services won the large office category
with its “Pride Wars” theme. Staff members dressed as
popular Star Wars characters and guided judges through the office
as participants fought for control of TTU Pride.
The theme of Purchasing, which won the small office
category, was “Operation: TTU Pride,” which incorporated
traditional Tech purple and gold in a "top secret" military
operations setting.
Other competing offices included Loan Accounting,
Research and Graduate Studies, Foreign Languages, Chemistry, Volpe
Library, and Interdisciplinary Studies and Extended Education.
“Every entry was an award-winner in terms
of displaying TTU Pride, and every office that competed offered
an incredible theme," says LeFevre. "I hope those offices
are inspired to build on those themes for next year’s contest."
Other judges of this year’s competition
were Daniel Craze, coordinator of Intramurals, and Gina Padgett,
assistant director of Alumni Relations.
Included in this year’s prize packages are
coupons for free Dominos pizzas, free coffee drinks from the Perch,
free Blimpie and Sbarro combo meals, a three-foot sub from Blimpie,
a Dairy Queen blizzard cake, merchandise from the Barnes & Noble
bookstore, room sprays from Feng Shui Etc., jewelry from Forward
Notion, and cosmetics from Mary Kay.
