| Tickets
are now on sale for the Honky-Tonk Tailgate Party concert at Hooper
Eblen Center Saturday, Nov. 5. Tickets are available online from
TTUsports.com or by calling the
TTU ticket office at 3940.
The concert, sponsored in part by 94.7 The Country
Giant and IWC Cash & Carry, highlights a weekend of Wild West-themed
events for TTU Homecoming.
The concert features a group of chart-topping
country music artists who joined together to form the Honky-Tonk
Tailgate Party Tour: Daryle Singletary, Chad Brock, Jeff Carson
and Rhett Akins.
According to promotional materials, the Honky
Tonk Tailgate Party tour is a unique concert experience offering
more than two hours of non-stop hits from some of country music’s
favorite artists. All four performers have had, and continue to
produce, popular country music that spans the broad spectrum of
country styles. The format of the show includes four separate performances
followed by a culmination of all four artists meeting on stage to
sing country and rock outlaw favorites.
Daryle Singletary, whose CD "That's Why I
Sing This Way?" features performances from artists like Merle
Haggard, George Jones and Dwight Yoakum, is often called a "neo-traditionalist"
singer. His gravelly, baritone voice featured in smash hit singles
"I Let Her Lie" and "Too Much Fun" have earned
him much acclaim on the country music landscape.
Chad Brock's namesake album project produced the
number-one single "Ordinary Life" and earned him a spot
touring with Alan Jackson. His follow-up album featured "Yes!"
another country chart-topping hit.
Jeff Carson hit the charts with his number-one
hit "Not On Your Love" and the smash ballad "The
Car," which won the ACM Video of the Year award. His 2001 hit
"Real Life" also won acclaim and soared onto country charts.
Rhett Akins has had several hits, including his
first number-one single, "That Aint My Truck." That success
was duplicated with the hit "She Said Yes" and second
first-place single, "Don't Get Me Started."
The concert is open to the public. Ticket prices
range from $25 on the floor to $15 in the "bowl" reserved
seats, and $10 top-level seating. TTU students will have the opportunity
to buy one top-level ticket each for $5. Limited seating is available
at each level.
Proceeds from the concert ticket sales will benefit
TTU Athletics.
Tickets are available by phone or online. Tickets
purchased online can be printed at home or held at will-call. For
