Legislative action as a result of recent events — including
Hurricane Katrina and the Terri Schiavo situation in Florida —
have changed the way financial analysts and others view estate planning.
Learn more about these and other topics affecting
your savings and investments at an upcoming workshop, "Estate
Planning 101: Now that I have it what am I going to do with it?"
Sponsored by University Development, the workshop
is set for 2:30-3:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, in RUC 342. It's free
and open to everyone, but reservations are required. Call 3055 by
Wednesday, Nov. 16, if you plan to attend.
Brad Dozier, a certified financial planner, will
lead the program. During the workshop, you'll get answers to these
questions:
* Is my current estate plan still effective since
the federal tax law changes in 2000?
* Does my current plan take full advantage of
the disparity between the state and federal estate tax credits?
* Is a Living Trust necessary in my situation?
* Given recent events in Florida with Terri Schiavo,
can I ensure my Living Will is still valid?
* Can I reduce the amount of taxes I will owe
by including a charity in my estate plan?
* Can I take advantage of the new Katrina Emergency
Tax Relief Act to help reduce current income as well as future estate
taxes?
Dozier Consulting Group has offices in Tennessee

from 1 to 2 p.m. that afternoon; call Development at 3055 for more
information.
