The Faculty Research Committee is soliciting proposals for funding
for 2006-2007.
Faculty members interested in learning more about
preparing proposals for consideration by the committee are invited
to attend one of two seminars sponsored by the Office of Research,
scheduled for 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, in the President’s
Conference Room.
Maximum funding for a proposal is $4,000 per investigator.
The Handbook
for Faculty Research Committee Grants provides details about
allowable expenses.
The Faculty Research Program is intended to support
faculty in disciplines where external funding is typically not available,
faculty who have limited experience in applying for external funding,
and pilot projects expected to lead to the development of proposals
for external funding. A total of 40 percent of the program's funds
support the Faculty Research Development Program, and 60 percent
go to the Faculty Research Initiation Program.
The guidelines of the Faculty Research Initiation
Program are:
* Applicants must be non-tenured, professorial
rank faculty;
* Proposals will be evaluated on their intellectual
merit and potential for external grant proposals;
* The director/department chair will be required
to endorse the applicant's proposal, stating the level of in-kind
or in-cash match to the project;
* Faculty will be limited to two awards while
on tenure track; and
* Awardees will be required to submit a proposal
to a funding agency following the conclusion of the research project.
Proposals for the coming year are due by noon,
Friday, Jan. 13, 2006. All proposals must be hand-delivered and
logged in at the Office of Research in Derryberry 306.
